Who we areHoopsIQ is run by Zakhar Armyanov, an individual based in London, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am the data controller for the personal data described here.
Contact: armyanovzakhar@gmail.com
What this policy coversThis policy covers two things: the HoopsIQ website at fantasyhoopsiq.com, and the HoopsIQ application at app.fantasyhoopsiq.com. It explains what personal data each one handles, why, and what you can ask me to do about it.
What I collect, and whyIf you only visit the website. The site is built on Tilda, which sets technical cookies needed to serve the pages. If you submit a form, I receive the email address you type and anything else the form asks for. I use it to reply to you and, if you asked to hear about HoopsIQ, to send occasional updates. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by replying to any message or emailing me.
If you create an account. Sign-in is handled by Google. Google tells HoopsIQ your name, your email address and an account identifier; HoopsIQ never sees your Google password. I use this to create your account, recognise you when you return and contact you about the service. The lawful basis is performance of a contract — I cannot give you an account without it.
What you put into the app. The NBA players on your roster, your league format and settings, and the results HoopsIQ computes for you. This is the service itself. The lawful basis is performance of a contract.
If you connect a fantasy league. HoopsIQ can read your league from Sleeper, ESPN or Yahoo when you connect it. Depending on the platform this means storing a username, a league identifier or an access token that lets HoopsIQ read — never change — your league. Access tokens are encrypted before they are stored.
Reading a league also means reading the other teams in it, including the display names their managers chose on that platform. HoopsIQ uses this only to show you your league's standings and rosters. You can disconnect a league at any time, which deletes the stored credentials.
How the app is used. HoopsIQ records which features are used and when, so I can tell which parts of the product are worth keeping. The lawful basis is legitimate interests — specifically, understanding whether the product works. You can object to this; email me and I will stop recording events for your account.
Server logs. The hosting platform records technical information including IP addresses and request times, as any web server does, for security and troubleshooting.
What I do not doI do not sell personal data, and I do not share it for advertising. HoopsIQ makes no automated decisions that produce legal effects for you — its recommendations are suggestions about a game.
Who else handles your data- Railway hosts the application and its database, in the United States.
- Tilda hosts this website and its forms.
- Google handles sign-in.
- Sleeper, ESPN and Yahoo are where your league data comes from, with your authorisation.
Where your data is storedHoopsIQ runs on servers in the United States, so your data is transferred outside the United Kingdom. Transfers of this kind are permitted where appropriate safeguards are in place, and I rely on the data processing terms offered by the providers above. If you would like to know more about the safeguards that apply, email me.
How long I keep it- Your account and roster — while your account exists.
- Connected league credentials — until you disconnect the league or delete your account.
- Usage events — 24 months.
- Email addresses from website forms — until you ask to be removed.
- Server logs — a short period set by the hosting provider.
If you ask me to delete your account, I will do so within 30 days.
Your rightsUnder UK data protection law you have the right to ask me to:
- give you a copy of the personal data I hold about you
- correct it if it is wrong
- delete it
- restrict how I use it
- send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable format
- stop using it where I rely on legitimate interests
- withdraw consent, where you gave it
Email armyanovzakhar@gmail.com and I will respond within one month. There is no charge.
CookiesThe website uses technical cookies set by Tilda so the pages work. The application uses a session cookie so you stay signed in. HoopsIQ does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
ChildrenHoopsIQ is not intended for children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their data.
ChangesIf this policy changes I will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and you have an account, I will email you.
ComplaintsIf you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, please email me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.
